CC falls to Trinity in SCAC opener

Luke Caldarera poured in 29 points to lead the Trinity University men's basketball team to a 73-59 victory over Colorado College in the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game of the season for both teams on Friday night at CC's Reid Gymnasium.
 
Caldarera made 10 of 13 shots from the floor and all eight of his free throw attempts. He completed a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds.
 
After Lance Jacobs scored two of his 15 points to pull CC to within two points with 4:31 remaining in the first half, Trinity went on a 15-2 run to take 37-22 lead at the break.
 
Brady Ohlsen capped a 12-2 run with a pair free of throws as Colorado College cut its deficit to 42-34 with 16:22 remaining, but TU was able to keep its lead around 10 points until Michael Goforth pulled the Tigers to within seven points with 2:49 to play.
 
Trinity (5-1, 1-0 SCAC) made nine of 10 free throws to stretch its margin of victory.
 
Ohlsen and Jacobs led CC with 15 points, while Nick Rose added 11. Ohlsen added a team-high five rebounds.
 
Colorado College (1-8, 0-1 SCAC) will play host to Southwestern University on Saturday at 6 p.m.
