Men's Tennis Drops Non-Conference Match to UTD

GEORGETOWN, Texas - On their final home weekend the Southwestern men's tennis team lost 7-2 to the University of Texas Dallas but saw some positive play to prepare for the SCAC Conference Championships.

With extremely windy conditions and an impending storm the teams kicked off action with singles play. The Pirates opened well, taking two singles matches. Alex Lam swept Leib in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0 in #1 singles while Dax Collison battled Chenkin in #6 singles and emerged with the win, winning in a tie-breaker, 1-6, 6-4, 11-9.

As doubles action came a new line-up brought positive outcomes despite losing all three matches. Lam and Alexander Reinsch have played well together all season and continued to do so in #1 doubles, narrowly falling 8-6. Andy Clarage and Collison teamed up for the first time this season in #2 doubles and lost 8-4 while Alec Bergerson and Jonathan Sandoval were just barely defeated 9-8 in the #3 slot.

Southwestern looks to continue to refine their game in their final regular season match on Monday at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The match is set to kick off at 4 p.m. in Belton, Texas.
