Milne's record night lifts CC over Gents

Box Score Junior point guard Ryan Milne poured in a career-high 36 points to help Colorado College re-claim sole possession of first place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 76-61 victory at Centenary College on Friday night.

Milne also set a career best with seven three-point buckets, none of which were bigger than the pair he knocked down in a span of 37 seconds late in the second half.

The Tigers appeared to be cruising toward their fourth victory in five road games when Milne gave his team a 53-31 with 13:04 remaining. The Gents made things interesting when they went on a 19-4 run to close to within 57-50 with 4:41 still to play.

Fortunately for Colorado College, Milne answered with back-to-back treys and the visitors were able to pad their lead by sinking 10 of 12 free-throw attempts during the final 2:33.

Sophomore forward Chris Lesnansky scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds, while senior forward Ian Rewoldt added nine rebounds, four points and three assists.

Freshman forward Tyler Jonas reached double figures for the first time with 10 points.

Jonathan Blount scored 26 points for the Gents before heading to the bench on a technical foul with 15 seconds to play.

Caden Cheramie added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Milne reached the 30-point mark for the third time in his career and became the 23rd player in program history to record 900 or more career points. He finished the game ranked No. 21 with 935.

Milne's 36 points were the most by a Tiger since Nick Rose scored 37 during an 84-80 victory over Hendrix College on Feb. 18, 2011.

The Tigers improved to 9-7 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Centenary dropped to 7-9 overall and 3-5 in the SCAC.

Colorado College's six-game road stretch concludes on Sunday at Austin College.
