GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern faced a tough opponent in Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Friday afternoon, falling 9-0, but it proved to be the warm-up they needed as they responded to defeat Hendrix College 7-2 on Sunday. 

SU knew they were in for a fight as they faced DII Southeast Oklahoma State. Despite dropping all three doubles matches Southwestern put up a great fight. Alex Lam and Alexander Reinsch nearly pulled out the upset but fell just short losing 8-6 in #1 doubles. Andy Clarage/Alec Bergerson (#2) and Dax Collison/Edward Yu (#3) both fell 8-2 in their respective matches. 

Singles matches started out well with Reinsch nearly defeating Paulovic in #2 singles. He lost in a tie breaker falling 6-4, 4-6, 10-5. Alvaro Rojas also competed well in his singles match in the #6 spot, falling 6-3, 7-5. 

After the loss the Pirates had one day to regroup before taking on SCAC opponent Hendrix College. Southwestern stormed out of the gate to win two of the three doubles matches, jumping out to an important 2-1 lead heading into singles. Lam/Reinsch were in a dog-fight in #1 doubles but stuck it out to win 8-6 while Clarage/Bergerson won 8-4 in #2 doubles.

In singles action Southwestern got down to work and won five of the six matches to seal the win. Lam got things rolling with a 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 win over Gardner in #1 singles and Reinsch kept it going, winning 6-4, 6-4 in the #2 spot. Clarage battled with Dawson in #3 singles but took the match in two sets, winning 7-5, 7-6. Alec Bergerson easily defeated Berardi in #4 singles 6-0, 6-1 while Rojas took down Lea in a tie breaker victory, winning 6-1, 3-6, 10-5. 

Southwestern moves to 2-5 on the season after the weekend split. They return to action on Thursday to face Mary Hardin Baylor before heading to San Antonio to take on SCAC opponents Austin College, Trinity and Colorado College over the weekend.
