UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS ATHLETICS

Kangaroos Bounce Crusaders 72-67

The UD men's basketball gave a tough, 9-3 AustinCollege team a scare Wednesday night as Dallas battled back from a 9 point halftime deficit to take a lead late in the fourth quarter. The team scored 39 points in the second half and shot 42.9% from the field but fell just short with only minutes left as Austin held on. Dallas's struggles came in the paint, as they were outrebounded by a much taller Roo team, 28 to 37.

Offensively, senior guard Jim Norton (Louisville, KY/Holy Angels Academy) led the team with 20 points. His 5 rebounds were also good for second on the team. Additionally, junior forward Noah Pettit (Fairfax, CA/Sir Francis Drake) scored 15 points on 5 of 10 shooting. Defensively, senior forward Peter Popovich (St. Louis, MO/Gateway Academy) lead the team in rebounding with 6. Senior forward Travis Ekmark (Yokosuka, Japan/Nile C. Kinnick H.S.) led the squad in both assists and blocks with two.

With the loss Dallas falls to 5-7 on the year. They will look to turn things around against the University of St. Thomas on Saturday, January 9, in Houston, TX. Tip off is at 4:00pm.
