CC muscles its way past Crusaders

Box Score Colorado College used a dominating performance on the glass and 24 points from sophomore guard Ryan Milne to earn a hard-fought 78-55 victory over the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon at Reid Gymnasium.

Junior forward Ian Rewoldt and freshman forward Chis Lesnansky grabbed 14 rebounds apiece, their combined total only eight fewer than the Crusaders had has a team, as the Tigers amassed a 54-36 advantage on the boards.

Rewoldt completed his third double-double of the season with 13 points, while Lesnansky's total was a season best.

Milne led the Tigers with 24 points, 15 of which came in the second half, to keep UD from mounting any kind of a sustained comeback.

Tanner Bruffey led the Crusaders with 17 points before fouling out with 6:46 to play.

After falling behind 4-0 a little less than two minutes into the game, sophomore guard Jake Tramutolo knocked down a pair of 3-pointers during a 15-0 run that gave CC an 11-point lead.

Colorado College led 32-10 after a layup by Lesnansky, but Bruffey scored four points during a 9-4 run that allowed the Crusaders to trim their deficit to 15 points after Kym Malone connected from long range with 1:25 to play.

Neither team had a decisive run in the second half. The Tigers took a 20-point lead when sophomore forward Daniel Webb buried a 3-pointer midway through the period, and UD never got closer than 16 points after Kym Malone scored on a layup with 6:46 to play.

CC improved to 10-10 overall and 7-6 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.  Dallas dropped to 7-15 overall and 5-8 in conference play.

Colorado College travels to Texas next weekend for its final two road games of the regular season, visiting Southwestern and Trinity University on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
