Bulldogs Blank Yellow Jackets 4-0

SEGUIN, Texas, -- Texas Lutheran Men's soccer won their second consecutive match to move to 2-1 on the season with a 4-0 victory over the Yellow Jackets of Howard Payne. Friday's 4-0 victory made for their second consecutive shutout victory.

The Bulldogs were active early and often as senior All-American Luis Green (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley) got the Bulldogs on the board first with a goal in the 4th minute thanks to an assist from Nicolas Medina (Houston/St. Pius X). That would be far from the end of Medina's contributions to Friday afternoon's match. Green would return the favor in the 17th minute as Nicolas Medina would extend the Bulldogs lead to 2-0 thanks to a Green assist. Medina would later score in the 86th minute to wrap his 2 goal, 1 assist afternoon.

Freshman Cole Sixkiller (San Antonio/Reagan) collected his first collegiate goal in the 78th minute.

It was another stellar defensive performance from the Bulldogs defense as both goalkeepers kept clean sheets and the Bulldogs dominated possession - the Yellow Jackets rarely crossing midfield and only having four shots over the duration of the match. When asked about the team's mentality, coach Eddie Salazar stated, " The idea behind what we are trying to do is to continue to learn. The mentality overall has been good from top to bottom and we took another step in the right direction today. We've got a group of guys that are committed to working hard and working together - from front to back."

TLU is back in action Friday, September 17th, under the lights at the Gus as they face off against Hardin-Simmons at 7:30 PM.
