James Lonergan scored 10 of his season-high 17 points during a pivotal 14-2 surge late in the second half to propel Colorado College to a 97-85 victory at Texas Lutheran University on Saturday afternoon.

Mitch Carter put the Tigers ahead for good on layup 27 seconds later. Lonergan added the final four points during the run to give CC a 10-point lead with 3:08 to play and the Bulldogs would get no closer than 89-82 with 2:26 left.

Colorado College improved to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Ryan Milne led the Tigers with 28 points and 12 assists to record the second double-double of his career. The senior guard also tied his career high with six steals.

Carter made six of eight shots from the floor and six of seven free throws to record a season-high 18 points. He also led the team with eight rebounds.

Justin Berardino connected on four of seven shots from behind the arc en route to a 15-point performance.

CC led 49-39 after junior forward
Chris Lesnansky sank a pair of free throws with 1:01 remaining in the first half, but Donte McGee sank a pair of free throws and knocked down a jumper with seven ticks on the clock to pull the Bulldogs to within six points after 20 minutes.

After trailing by as many as nine points midway through the second frame, TLU used a 13-2 run to grab a 77-75 lead when Garrett Wilkins scored with 8:21 to play.

Jordan Kouremetis connected on six of 12 long-range shots and finished with a team-high 28 points for Texas Lutheran, which dropped to 5-10 overall and 0-5 in league play.

Wilkins added 16 points and seven assists, while Troy Griffith finished with 12 points.

Colorado College shot a season-high 54 percent from the floor en route to its highest scoring output of the season. It marks the third time the Tigers scored 90 or more points in a game this year, but the first in a game that didn't require overtime.

CC returns home next week to play host to Southwestern University and Trinity University on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
