Young Tigers Shine in Defensive Battle at Centenary

Taylor Harris and Trey Crawford combined for 22 points, and Alex Russo pulled down seven rebounds, to lead the Colorado College men's basketball team at Centenary on Monday night.
 
Unfortunately, Seth Thomas scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Gents to a 59-43 victory in a game that was much tighter than the final score indicates.   
 
The Tigers hit five of their first seven shots and dialed up the defensive pressure during a 10-0 run to begin the second half. CC grabbed a 33-32 lead when Harris buried one of his three three-pointers with 15 minutes to play and stayed within striking distance for the next 10 minutes.
 
Colorado College trailed just 40-38 after Will Nisbet sank a pair of free throws with 10:50 remaining and the Tigers were still within six points after Crawford knocked down a jumper with 4:38 to play. However, the Gents closed out the game with an 11-1 run.
 
Crawford and Harris led CC with a season-best 11 points apiece. Crawford also recorded five rebounds, three blocked shots and a pair of assists.
 
Scott Cunningham finished with nine points, a season-high five steals and three assists.
 
In addition to his seven rebounds, Russo added six points and an assist.
 
The Tigers forced 16 turnovers and held Centenary to a fraction over 42 percent shooting from the floor.

Will Nisbet scored six points and pulled down six rebounds.
 
Centenary College Standouts 
Kile Mingo also reached double-digits with 12 points.
Neil Hawkins grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
 
Notes 
Colorado College slipped to 0-5
Centenary improved to 5-2.

CC gets a chance to earn a measure of revenge tomorrow night the Tigers round out their two-game set at Centenary.
