Ladies Basketball Falls to Texas Lutheran in Season Opener

Shreveport – The Centenary women's basketball team fell, 87-39, to the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday evening in its 2021 season opener at the Gold Dome.

Centenary was led by junior guard Kristen Stuart (Kilgore, Texas) on Friday as she scored 15 points on 7 of 18 shooting in her Ladies debut after transferring from Richland College. Junior guard Alex Williams (Shreveport) added seven points, three assists, and a steal in 26 minutes. Senior guards Tacoya Allen (Killeen, Texas) and Darelzray Bellard (Mamou, La.) each scored six points. Allen also had three rebounds and two steals and Bellard had five rebounds.

Freshman guard Dana Wainwright (Benton, La.) had a team-best six rebounds in her Ladies debut. The Ladies shot 26.4 % for the game and made 5 of 17 three-point basket attempts. Centenary grabbed 32 rebounds, 22 of which came on the defensive end.

Senior guard Olivia Balderas led four Bulldogs in double figures with her 16 points in 30 minutes of action, as she made 5 of 6 shots from the floor and four of five three-point attempts. Sophomore guard Kailey Lacy had 15 points in 22 minutes, going 5-8 from the floor and made 5-6 three pointe attempts. Sydney Shaw and Abby Hroch combined for 24 points and 15 rebounds. TLU made 13 of 26 from three-point range and shot 48.3 % overall from the floor for the game.
