After falling to 2-6 in the conference, Volleyball responded, showed poise against a competitive Schreiner team, and won 3-1. With this victory, the Celts show they are still contenders in the conference by besting a team ahead of them in the SCAC standings. They did this behind stellar defensive play, with 20 total block assists in the match.

In set one, after a 4-4 tie, St. Thomas showcased their dominance and would not let Schreiner kickstart any offense. From there, the Celts would close on a 21-8 run capped off by a kill from Audrey Cataline to take the opening set 25-12. In set two, the Mountaineers would respond for a closer set two. In a set that featured nine ties and four lead changes, it was ultimately Schreiner who came out on top as they won 25-22. This would not be enough to put them back in the match because in set three, St. Thomas would go up 4-0 early and would not look back. Schreiner would do their best to pace the Celts and would get as close as one point at 10-9, yet it wasn't enough. St. Thomas would have eight total blocks in this set, two each from Paige Havel, Laynee Beam, Ashlynne Fitzgerald, and Alyssa Ajlouny as the defense would hold to win 25-19. In the fourth and final set, after being down by as much as four, St. Thomas would go on a timely 8-1 run midway through the set to take the lead and win the set 25-18. This would give them their third conference victory, taking the match 3-1. 

It was all defense for the Celts this matchup with 10 total between four different players. 74 total digs would also pace Schreiners 57 for a stellar back row. Kendall Howard would also impress offensively with 28 assists, while Trinity Atkins would notch 13 kills on 32 swings. 

With this victory, Volleyball advances to sixth in the SCAC, just qualifying for the conference tournament. Up next, the Celts look to get hot next weekend against Centenary and Austin College.
