Tornados Take Two From Pirates

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Concordia scored three runs in each contest to defeat Southwestern 3-1, 3-2 on Tuesday afternoon. The losses drop SU to 8-8 on the year while CUA improves to 9-5.

Southwestern scored first in game one, pushing a run across in the bottom of the first inning, but committed three errors the rest of the way. Concordia took advantage and scored three runs in the third on a homerun by Duhon.

The Pirates had a great chance to pull even in the top of the sixth, getting runners on with one out on a walk to Kaitlyn Pavlicek and single by Tessa Galloway. Southwestern wasn't able to capitalize, however, and dropped the contest 3-1.

Lyndsy Maus garnered her fourth loss of the season allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and two strike outs.

The Pirates once again jumped out to an early first inning lead in game two, pushing two runs across the plate on a two out, two RBI single  by Kayla Irvin.

CUA was held scoreless and without a hit until the fifth inning when a double by Berry with two outs brought the Tornados within one, 2-1.

Vansickle doubled after a lead off walk to start the bottom of the sixth for CUA. A wild pitch scored the tying run and Ferrell followed with a single to drive in the go-ahead run which also turned out to be the game winner.

Lauren Zearfoss drops her third game of the year with the 5-3 loss, allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and nine strike outs.

Irvin led at the plate for the Pirates, going 2-3 with 2 RBI's. Taylor Turpin also had a two-hit game with one run scored.

Southwestern heads to Arizona for the Tuscan Invitational this weekend with games beginning on March 11th.
