San Antonio – The Centenary volleyball team lost a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches on Friday, 3-0 to Colorado College and 3-2 to Schreiner University, as the Ladies opened play in a crossover hosted by Trinity University at the Bell Center.

The Ladies (9-20, 0-13 SCAC) will wrap up the weekend on Saturday with a match versus the host Tigers set for 12:15 p.m.

Match one recap: Colorado College 3 Centenary 0

The Tigers (14-6, 6-3 SCAC) took the first set by a score of 25-14, won set two 25-18, and closed out the match with a 25-20 win in set three.

Centenary finished with 43 digs, 20 assists, 20 kills, and three service aces, The Maroon and White added 12 block assists and two solo blocks. The Tigers recorded 42 digs, 38 kills, 37 assists, nine aces, four block assists and a pair of solo blocks.

Senior DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) led the Ladies in digs with 11 and added a pair of assists. Freshman S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) finished with eight assists and eight digs, and senior S/RS Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) tallied nine assists, three digs, a block assist, an ace, and a kill. Senior MB Liz Lowe (San Antonio, Texas) added four kills, four digs, an ace, and a solo block.

Sophomore RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) had six kills, four block assists, and a dig and fellow sophomore OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) had four digs. Junior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) finished with three digs, three kills, and an assist, freshman OH Jaeda Moreno (Weslaco, Texas) recorded three kills and a dig, and sophomore MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) tallied four block assists, a solo block, two digs, and two kills.

Match two recap: Schreiner 3 Centenary 2

The Mountaineers (10-14, 3-7 SCAC) won the first set, 25-17, but then the Ladies responded with a 25-19 win in the second set. Schreiner took the third set (25-16) but another 25-19 win by the Ladies sent the match into a decisive fifth set which Schreiner won 15-13. Schreiner also won the previous meeting between the two teams in five sets back on Sept. 25 in Shreveport.

The Ladies recorded 79 digs, 52 kills, 49 assists, 14 block assists, two aces, and a solo block while Schreiner finished with 83 digs, 65 kills, 62 assists, 12 aces, and 12 block assists. Centenary's 79 digs are its fourth-most in a match this season and marks the eighth time they have posted 70 or more.

Proctor led the way with 19 digs, Lowe had 13, and Smith and senior DS Mariah Martinez (San Antonio, Texas) each had 12. Smith had 25 assists and Demerjian added 21. Lowe had a team-high 18 kills and St. Martin was right behind her with 15. Freshman DS/L Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) had a season and career-high nine digs.
