Ohlsen's double-double helps CC tame Lynx

Brady Ohlsen had 18 points and 10 rebounds to help Colorado College re-gain a share of first place atop the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's Western Division with a 73-63 victory over Rhodes College on Sunday afternoon at CC's Reid Gymnasium.

The Tigers improved to 10-5 overall and 5-2 in the SCAC, and share the division lead with Austin College and Southwestern University. The Lynx slipped to 6-9 overall and 1-6 in conference play.

Nick Rose scored 20 of his game-high 28 points in the second half, making six of nine field-goal attempts and seven of nine free throws during the final 20 minutes.

After Kory Kilpatrick gave Rhodes a 33-31 lead 1:59 into the second half, Rose scored nine points during a 16-3 run that allowed Colorado College to turn a two-point deficit into a 47-36 lead with 13:21 remaining in the game.

The Lynx trimmed their deficit to 49-45 when Kilpatrick drained a three-point shot, but Colin Madden answered from behind the arc and Rose added a layup to help the Tigers re-establish control.

Jarrell Sweet had a pair of steals and three points during an 11-2 run as CC extended its lead to 60-47 with 5:06 to play and Rhodes never got closer than eight points. Sweet finished with 12 points, five assists and tied his season high with seven steals.

Neither team led by more than three points during the opening 20 minutes when there were 16 lead changes and eight ties.

Kilpatrick gave the Lynx an early 3-0 lead when he knocked down the first of his three 3-point baskets. The Tigers' biggest lead was 22-19 on an Ohlsen layup with 5:15 remaining.

Reid Hamilton led Rhodes with 20 points, while Nathan Ollie added 15 off the bench.

Colorado College travels to Sewanee and Oglethorpe University next Friday and Sunday, respectively.
