Austin College Men Edge Crusaders

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team earned its second straight win on Friday, topping the University of Dallas 2-1 in a match that saw all three scores coming on penalty kicks. The 'Roos are now 2-6 overall on the year.

Both of Austin College's penalty kick scores came in a 30 second span midway through the first half, first with Louis Catchpole placing a shot in the lower right corner of the net at the 23:26 mark, and then Jacob Tekle followed that up by finishing on a PK of his own at the 24:03 mark to make it a 2-0 game. That's how things would stand heading into halftime, as Austin College controlled possession for much of the opening half and held a 7-4 advantage in shot attempts.

The score remained 2-0 until just after the 71 minute mark, as the Crusaders managed to earn a penalty kick of their own, with Brady McNamara burying it to cut the margin in half. The Crusaders appeared to have the equalizer late in the match, but it was wiped out due to offsides being called on the play. The 'Roos kept the Crusaders off the board the rest of the way, holding on for the 2-1 victory.

Austin College finished the game with an 11-10 edge in shots, and Connor Tullis made three saves for the 'Roos while Goncarlo Pernas made three stops for Dallas.
