The Colorado College volleyball team hit better than .400 for the second time this weekend and cruised to a 25-8, 25-10, 25-21 victory over Covenant College on Saturday afternoon at Reid Arena.

The second-ranked Tigers improved to 11-0 with their eighth sweep of the season.  

Senior middle hitter Myca Steffey-Bean, junior outside hitter Haley Harris and junior middle hitter Marguerite Spaethling were virtually unstoppable, recording a combined .594 attack percentage with 41 kills on 64 swings with only three errors.

Steffey-Bean hit a season-best .789 with 15 kills on 19 attacks without an error. Harris finished at .591 with 15 kills on 22 swings with just two errors, while Spaethling had 11 kills on 23 attempts with only one error, good for a .435 percentage.

Harris completed her fourth double-double of the season with a match-high 14 digs, while Spaethling a hand in a pair of blocked shots.

The Tigers were on fire during the first two sets, hitting a combined .543 while giving up only 18 points.

Colorado College raced to an 11-3 lead in the first set, and after the Scots scored back-to-back points, the Tigers went on an 9-1 tear to take control of the frame.

Covenant stayed with CC early in the second set, but the Tigers used a 10-3 surge to open a double-digit lead at 19-9 on a kill by sophomore outside hitter Allie Freeburg.

A kill by sophomore middle hitter Alexa Spurling gave the Scots a 17-15 lead in the third set, but Harris had four kills to spark an 8-1 run as the Tigers rallied to close out the match.

Spurling led Covenant with six kills while junior defensive specialist Emily Moore had a team-high 10 digs.

On the other side of the net, the CC defense held an opponent under .100 for the 10 time in 11 matches.

Colorado College travels to Georgetown, Texas, next weekend for Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference crossover matches. The Tigers face Austin College and the University of Dallas on Saturday, Sept. 22, and then Centenary College and host Southwestern University the following day.
