Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Athletic Communications

Kinney, Crawford Pound the Glass, But Tigers Fall at Centenary

Junior forward Sam Kinney grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds and freshman forward Trey Crawford posted his first career double-double, but a double-digit first-half deficit proved too large to overcome as the Colorado College men's basketball team came out on the short end of 51-37 result at Centenary College on Tuesday night.

Kinney grabbed six rebounds at both ends of the court and added five points.

Crawford scored a game-high 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, including eight at the defensive end.

Thanks in part to a relentless defensive effort, the Tigers held Centenary to a 32 percent field-goal percentage its lowest point total of the season.

"I thought it was our best defensive effort of the year and that is a major accomplishment against a team like Centenary," head coach Jeff Conarroe said. "We had an outstanding response on the offensive glass. But overall lack of practice time is affecting us on the offensive end of the floor.  I'm proud of our guys and their effort, we will keep fighting."

That effort allowed CC to cut its 13-point halftime deficit to 33-29 when Taylor Harris dialed long distance with slightly less than 13 minutes to play in the second half.

Colorado College was within nine points after Kinney scored on a tip-in with 6:39 to play, however the Gents sealed the victory with a 9-4 surge during the closing minutes.
