Ladies Fall In Five Sets At Dallas Christian College On Friday Night

Dallas - The Centenary volleyball team fell 3-2 on Friday night to the Dallas Christian College Lady Crusaders in a non-conference contest.

The Ladies fell to 10-22 while the Lady Crusaders improved to 9-19. Dallas Christian upped its home record to 5-5 and snapped a six-game losing streak. The Ladies took the first set, 25-19, and then DCC evened the match with a 25-21 win in set two. The Lady Crusaders claimed a hard-fought 25-23 win in set three, but the Maroon and White responded with a decisive 25-14 victory in the fourth set. DCC closed out the win with a 15-12 edge in the fifth set.

Centenary finished the match with 77 digs, 49 kills, 41 assists, 14 service aces, and four blocks. Dallas Christian totaled 75 digs, 590 kills, 43 assists, nine aces, and nine blocks. Senior MB Liz Lowe (San Antonio, Texas) had a game-high 19 kills and added an ace and a block. Senior DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) had a team-high 14 digs and added three assists and a block. Senior DS Mariah Martinez (San Antonio, Texas) had 12 digs and one kill.

Freshman S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) led the Ladies with 18 assists and senior S/RS Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) was right behind her with 17. Smith added nine digs, five aces, and a kill and Demerjian also tallied five digs. Sophomore OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar land, Texas) had a team-best six aces and had five digs and needs just six more to reach 300 for the season.

Sophomore RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) had 11 kills, five digs, and one ace, and freshman MB Susi Curtis (Haslet, Texas) had four digs, two kills, a block, and an assist. Junior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) tallied three digs and three kills and reached 300 digs for her career.

Sophomore MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) had a dig and a kill and sophomore RS Aubrey Salazar (San Antonio, Texas) had five kills and three digs. Freshman MB/OH Jordan Wheeler (Baton Rouge, La.) added four kills, two digs, and an ace, and freshman RS Jacqueline Deville (Bossier City, La.) had one assist, one dig, and one kill.

The Ladies will play their final two matches of the season on Saturday, a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contests, versus the host school, the University of Dallas Crusaders (Noon) and the Austin College 'Roos (3 p.m.) in Irving, Texas/.
