KAYLA LOFLAND OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a junior on the volleyball team from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning January 24.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Lofland is involved in just about everything on campus. In addition to being a leader for the Schreiner volleyball team over the past three years, she is a Resident Assistant on campus, a Schreiner University Ambassador, a photographer for the Sports Information Staff, a member of the Centennial Committee, and a member of SAAC.

“Character & Community, to me, is having a great attitude and a willingness to work hard in the classroom, on the court, and in the community," said Lofland.

When she is not out on the volleyball court, Lofland loves to spend time volunteering in the local Kerrville community with her teammates and fellow Schreiner students. Recently, she volunteered with Habitat for Humanity to help build and remodel homes for less fortunate members of the local community.
